Leaving Limbo

Are you tired of waiting for God to show up? Are you wondering if He is ever going to do something about the situation that you’re stuck in; or if He even wants to? When will He move?

Dear friend, let me tell you that you are not alone. I am so familiar with that feeling. I remember standing in a worship service on a Father’s Day Sunday. As I stood with my eyes closed and my arms raised in worship, a picture of the Father’s face dropped into my spirit.

It is a picture that I have pinched from the movie Tangled, because that is how the Father introduced Himself to me. As I worshipped, I saw that tear rolling down the kings face again, just before the celebration for the lost princess began. He was so moved by her absence.

In that moment, I heard the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit: “Meliza, God is moved about your struggle, but He doesn’t have to move. You do.” It kind of knocked me out of the song I was singing and I couldn’t wait to get home to explore this a little more. What did He mean? Does God not move anymore? What did He mean by saying that it was me who needed to move?

As I sat with an open journal and a heart ready to receive, I asked the Holy Spirit to help me understand what He meant. He reminded me that Jesus paid the ultimate price for me on the cross, and that everything I would ever need, was given to me in that moment. That was God’s ultimate move. The move of all moves, so to speak.

“He who did not spare [even] His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?”
Romans 8:32 AMP

Maybe the answer was not in waiting FOR God, but waiting ON Him.

Often we can spend our time waiting for God to show up, wave His magic wand and change our circumstances in an instant. Our expectations are some set on some external force coming to shift and move things on our behalf. Over the last few years I have learned that, that is not how God works. He has put the answer for every problem, in each and every born-again heart.

Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness. As a result of this, he has given you magnificent promises that are beyond all price, so that through the power of these tremendous promises you can experience partnership with the divine nature, by which you have escaped the corrupt desires that are of the world.”
2 Peter 1:3-4 TPT

We already have everything we need to leave the land of Limbo. It has been deposited into us, when we were born into the kingdom of God. We access that through getting to know God intimately and it’s through our relationship with Him, that we discover the magnificent promises that He has made available to us in His Word.

This is the way He moves: in partnership with us, as we come into agreement with what He has promised in His Word. There is no shortcut. Not one with lasting results anyway – trust me, I have explored all the options. Ha!

The problem that kept me stuck in Limbo was that I believed that God was able to do the impossible, but I didn’t believe that He wanted to do it for me. I didn’t feel good enough or that I deserved His help. That, however, was the very thing I needed to believe. If we want to see the promises of God manifest in our life, we need to be fully convinced that God is not just able, but He is also willing. He wants us to be free, to be healed, delivered, to prosper in every area of our lives.

We need to not just know it, but believe!

That is why we need to not just read about the love of God, we need to experience it. One of my favourite scriptures says that God is able to do immeasurably more than we could ever hope for, dream or imagine. The second part of that verse (Ephesians 3:20), says that He does this through His power that is at work IN US.

Not His power that He releases from Heaven, but the power of faith, hope and love. HIS power at work IN US.

We can never truly believe something, until we experience it.

When I looked at the verses preceding that verse (Ephesians 3:14-20) I discovered that Paul was praying for a prayer for the church of Ephesus. A prayer, that I would like to pray for you right now:

I pray to our awesome Father,
That He would unveil to you the incredible power He has deposited in you. I pray that He will strengthen you from the inside out, as you discover the faith and power He has placed in you. I pray that you will personally experience the marvelous love of God, in all it’s dimensions. That you will encounter Him frequently; in your everyday moments. I pray that you will become established, rooted and grounded in His love for you. May you become a body, flooded with His presence and may His love spills out from you, wherever you go.
I ask this, in Jesus Name.

It’s time to leave Limbo!

Today, I hear the Father say: “Wonderful Child. It’s time to rise up and step into the divine nature I have deposited in you. It’s time to position yourself in the authority I have bestowed upon you, in Christ. You have what it takes to walk out of the stronghold and take hold of the land I have given you. The land where you prosper in ALL things. It is already yours. Your inheritance from your Father, who adores you.” ❤
