Cocooned

A few days ago, my daughter felt a little stuck with a home school project. She had to create an illustrated mini story book and she was struggling to come up with a story line that was short enough to fit in six tiny pages. There were three pages to illustrate and three pages to write.

My gorgeous girl is not short of creativity. It was the limitation of the task that was the obstacle for her. She had already written a novel in her mind and now she didn’t know how to get it into a mini book. So we talked about the story, and I helped her to organise her thoughts into three parts.

The story was about a little caterpillar who was afraid. There was a bird in the tree that was threatening to eat it. The caterpillar wished that it had wings, like the bird, so it could fly away; but she couldn’t fly, because she was just a little worm.

One morning the caterpillar woke up and it was dark all around her. “Oh no!” she thought, “I must have been eaten by the bird. I am probably in its stomach!” Just as she thought her life was over, she saw a little bit of light come through a crack in her cocoon.

The cocoon broke open and the caterpillar felt something strange. She felt two big wings unfold around her, pushing what was left of the cocoon away from her body. She had wings! She could fly! She flew away from the bird and lived happily ever after.

I didn’t pay much attention to the story; I was just so relieved to know that Zoe could get on with her homework. Later on, I felt the Holy Spirit speak to my heart.

He was showing me that we are all cocooned at the minute. We might feel that everything is dark around us. Maybe we are starting to doubt the promises that God has given us, thinking that the enemy has the upper hand, but that is not true.

It is in the darkness that our wings are developed. Just like the little caterpillar kept feeding himself, we have fed ourselves on the Word of Life. It is growing in us and producing everything we need to be able to fly above the challenges we are faced with.

I pray that you will not be intimidated by the darkness around you, but used this time to rest in the faithfulness of the Father. Allow his Word to dwell in you richly as you start to stretch out in faith. Start to put into practice what you have learned when you were feasting on Truth. It will not disappoint you now.

It is not time to shrink back in fear. You are not a little worm, you were designed to soar. It is time to spread your wings and fly.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”
Romans 28:8-30 NIV

HeartPrint:

Today, I hear the Father say: “Beautiful Child. Have I not put my glorious DNA within you? You were created in my image. Created in my likeness. You were designed to overcome. To fly above the trials life brings. Let go of fear and doubt. Allow the Light of my Love to break into your heart and reveal who I have created you to be. Stretch out your wings of faith and be lifted up by the Wind of my Spirit. You are my glorious one! My Beloved.” ❤
