“Sometimes, I believe as much as six impossible things before breakfast,” Alice said to the Mad Hatter, just before she ran towards the mighty Jabberwocky. The Mad Hatter acknowledged her excellent practice, but encouraged her to keep her eye on the enemy in front of her.
I love that battle scene in Tim Burton’s adaptation of Alice in Wonderland (2010). It is full of keys to unlock a spiritual Wonderland. Have you ever found yourself there? Stuck in a place of uncertainty, not quite sure if you will survive the attack of the enemy in front of you?
If you feel like you have read this before, I have written a blog about this a few months ago. But in the light of uncertainty that is currently sweeping the globe, I wanted to focus on one key, that will help you unlock your Wonderland. That key is to feed yourself on impossible things.
As Alice ran towards the Jabberwocky, she counted six impossible things that she had experienced in Wonderland. So why would she not believe that she could overcome this challenge? In wonderland animals talk, potions can make you shrink, cats disappear and cake makes you grow. Anything is possible.
What if I told you, that you are also part of a story where anything is possible? Shall we count just six impossible things?
Over five thousand people can be fed with two fish and a few loafs of bread. (John 6)
A young boy kills a giant with one sling of a stone. (1 Samuel 17)
A man lame for thirty-eight years, stands up and walk at a command. (John 5)
A ninety year old woman has a baby. (Genesis 21)
Donkeys talk. (Numbers 22)
Sinful people are born again into the Kingdom of Heaven. (John 3)
And there are so many more than six.
“Jesus did countless things that I haven’t included here. And if every one of his works were written down and described one by one, I suppose that the world itself wouldn’t have enough room to contain the books that would have to be written!”
John 21:25 TPT
Those are only the ones that we can read about in the Bible. What about the countless impossible things that people are experiencing on a daily basis. God provides supernaturally for a family that has nothing to eat. Someone is healed from a terminal disease. A broken family is restored. The dead is raised. Miracles are still happening today! Impossible things are happening, but are you paying attention to them?
We will see impossible things happening all around us, if we open our eyes intentionally. We can find it in the Bible, we can watch it on YouTube. But do we remember the miraculous work that God has done in our lives? Things that should have been impossible? I know I have some incredible stories where God showed up in a miraculous way.
We could do with following the example of Alice. What impossible things can you recall before breakfast? Before you listen to the latest news report or check your social media? When a virus is appearing like a Jabberwocky in Wonderland, can you recall the impossible things that God has done for you? Can you run fearless into battle, knowing that the God who has done all these impossible things, is backing you up?
Alice was the chosen champion. The one who was destined to face the opposition in battle. But she was of no significance to the Jabberwocky. It was the sword that was his real foe. All Alice had to do was hold on to the Vorpal sword. What an incredible picture!
We are champions. We have the Sword of the Spirit. The living, active, Word of God. I don’t know what monster you are facing off with today, but the pressure to slay it is not on you. The Sword will fight for you. The Sword will slay your enemy. But you have to hold on to it. And you have to use it. Don’t just remember the impossible things, but recall them. Shout them out loud. Speak to your Jabberwocky.
Champions recall impossible things. And then they have the enemy for breakfast!
So, dear champion, before you have your cornflakes, feast on the faithfulness of God. Nothing is impossible with him. Let his Words dwell in you richly. Remember and recall. Six impossible things before breakfast. It is an excellent practice, indeed.
“Keep trusting in the Lord and do what is right in his eyes. Fix your heart on the promises of God and you will be secure, feasting on his faithfulness.”
Psalms 37:3 TPT
Today, I pray that we will feel the fire of the Words of the Father burn in our hearts. That it will burn away doubt and fear. That it will enlighten the eyes of our understanding as we discover who we are: Children of Heaven. Citizens of the Kingdom. The Beloved of the Creator of the Universe.
“So, what does all this mean? If God has determined to stand with us, tell me, who then could ever stand against us?”
Romans 8:31 TPT
Today, I hear the Father saying: “My Champion! Overcoming impossible odds is built into your supernatural DNA. You were designed to win every battle. Predestined to be victorious over every giant. Remember and recall all the impossible things that you have seen me do. Believe my Words and release them. I speak and all of creation lines up accordingly. You are created in my image. Now speak.” ❤
