Carriers of Salvation

I stopped folding the washing for a minute and looked out of the bedroom window. We had been praying with a friend for a few months, and didn’t see any signs of breakthrough. I felt incredibly frustrated. “You said nothing is impossible for you, God. Why does this seem so impossible?”

Abandoning my chore, I sat down on the bed and opened the Bible app on my phone. I needed to show God what he said and when he said it. I wanted to remind him, what he promised. As I found the verse, about to point it out to him, when my eye caught the following words:

“For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.”
Luke 1:37 AMPC

I nearly dropped my phone. How did I miss this? Maybe, we have been coming at this mountain from the wrong angle! What if we were waiting for the answer to come from “out there”, when the answer was already inside of us? We carried the Salvation that we were looking for!

Suddenly, there were little sparks shooting all around the neuropathways in my brain. Like tiny light bulbs showing me there was more to discover. I just had to take a look at the context of this verse. There was no hope that the washing would make it to the wardrobes that morning. Here is what I discovered:

Lightbulb moment no. 1 – Luke 1:37 is a promise of Salvation for all through the birth of Jesus.

This incredible promise of “nothing is impossible” is found in the first chapter of Luke, as the Angel Gabriel tells Mary that she is about to become pregnant with Salvation, Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

Salvation. Not just a pardon. Not just a ticket for the Pearly Gates. But abundant life, right here, right now. Permission to rule and reign. Authority over all the power of the enemy. Forgiveness. Healing. Provision. Deliverance. Reatoration. Safety. Peace.

That holy moment ushered Salvation into our world, but it would be nine months to see the Word made flesh, and another thirty three years to see the complete fulfilment of the prophetic promise of the Saviour.

Lightbulb moment no. 2 – Jesus is the Word made flesh. Salvation comes as the Word is made flesh.

As the Angel declared the Word, the Spirit came upon Mary and Salvation was conceived. From the first moment of Creation, we see these two forces come together to create our whole existence: Spirit and Truth.

Through the blood of Jesus we have received both. We have the Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave living inside of us. We have his Word. We have everything we need to conceive Salvation; a breakthrough for any situation we could possibly face.

John 1:1 explains that Jesus existed with God from the very beginning. He is the Word made flesh. Mary did not have the natural experience required for conceiving a child. She had no pregnancy test. She had no proof. But she believed.

All she had was the Word given to her by the Angel. With the help of the Holy Spirit in her and upon her, she created an environment for the seed of Salvation to incubate.

Lightbulb moment no. 3 – We carry the Word in our heart, until it is ready to be birthed into our circumstance.

Mary nurtured the Word. She looked after the seed of Truth that was implanted in her womb. She separated herself and chose the company of her cousin Elizabeth, who was also pregnant with an “impossible” baby. They spoke words of truth and life as they worshipped the God of the impossible.

Carrying a baby from conception to birth, takes time. I don’t know many women who has a wonderful experience of pregnancy, although I’m sure there are some. I did not enjoy either of mine. I felt sick, tired and uncomfortable.

Carrying Salvation will also require time and some degree of discomfort. Letting go of what we know, to embrace what God wants to birth in us, will require a new level of faith and trust. A calling we will not always be so comfortable with.

Lightbulb moment no. 4 – The breakthrough we are waiting for is in the incorruptible seed of the Word.

As I reflected on this passage, I felt the Holy Spirit saying that the problem is not with the seed. The Word is incorruptible (1 Peter 1:23). The problem is with the womb. The heart that is carrying the seed.

The enemy loves to discourage us, as we wait for the birth of Salvation in our situation. If he can make the heart uninhabitable, the Word of faith is aborted before it can become flesh. We have to keep the heart in the right condition for the Word to grow and become alive in us.

Lightbulb moment no. 5 – Nothing can stop the Word at work.

Luke 1:27 (AMPC) says that no Word from God will ever be without power or impossible of fulfilment. If we can successfully incubate the promise of Salvation, we will see it become real and alive in every situation we face.

Nothing is more powerful than the Word. (Jeremiah 23:29)

Nothing can stop the Word at work in your life. (Isaiah 55:11)

The power to move the mountain in front of you, is not coming from an external source. Salvation is birthed through you as you nurture the incorruptible seeds of Promise.

Jesus (Salvation) is the Word made flesh in you!

You carry Salvation.

Today, I hear the Father saying: “Precious One! Do you know the power you carry inside of your heart? My Words are Spirit and they are Life. Every Word that comes from my mouth, has the power to shift atmospheres and change circumstances. It always hits the target. Receive the incorruptible seed of my Word for the situation you are facing. Let it grow in you, and see Salvation come to life. Guard your heart as you grow my Truth. You are a carrier of Salvation.” ❤
