The weather is not really a metaphor you can rely on these days. It never fails to surprise me, that we can still expect freezing temperatures when the daffodils and tulips are starting to push through the soil. This morning, there was such a beautiful display along the drive to school. It kind of reminded me of Song of Songs 2:13 (TPT):
“Can you not discern this new day of destiny
breaking forth around you?
The early signs of my purposes and plans
are bursting forth.
The budding vines of new life
are now blooming everywhere.
The fragrance of their flowers whispers,
“There is change in the air.”
Arise, my love, my beautiful companion,
and run with me to the higher place.
For now is the time to arise and come away with me.”
Can you not discern this new day of destiny?
There are times when we might struggle to notice the signs of a new season, as we come out of a cold and difficult one. When you have been so caught up in your struggle, you don’t always notice little moments of breakthrough along the way.
The truth is, it doesn’t matter what Life-Season we are finding ourselves in, there is a new day of destiny for each one of us. When we walk with the Gardener, allowing him to do his work in our hearts, learning to trust him and surrender to his process, we will be able to discern the changing season ahead. Even when we’re still feeling the effects of the old one.
Recently, I have embarked on a mission to publish a book that was conceived in my heart over a decade ago. Suddenly, doors of opportunity are opening without me having to push them. It really is quite miraculous and encouraging to see the Father, taking me by the hand. Leading me, steadily, safely, on the path he had prepared for me. Leading me into this new day of destiny.
There have been moments when I have been so busy with writing the book, that I have lost sight of the miraculous signs of a new season that is ahead. Not just the daffodils and the tulips outside, but the peace and the freedom that has been budding in my heart.
Budding vines of new life.
With every chapter I write, I see what God has accomplished through his Word implanted in my innermost being. I may not be in full bloom, just yet, but I am not a patch of rocky soil covered in thorns anymore. Having yielded to the Gardener, I can see the signs of new life.
Galatians 6:9 encourages us to not grow weary in well-doing. The harvest is coming. There is a due season. The seeds we have planted in the years past, will start to show, but we have to carefully tend to the garden of our hearts. Without growing weary.
I do not have green fingers. In fact, I can hardly keep a houseplant alive. I have such admiration for people who cultivate beautiful gardens. It takes dedication and discipline. Two things, which do not sound very appealing in an insta-world where we have learned to chase after a quick fix.
Consistently planting truth in your heart, will produce a harvest of freedom. You may not see luscious figs hanging from the tree, just yet. But take a minute and notice the little buds. The figs are on their way.
Arise, and run to the higher place.
Often times, we can get complacent when things are peaceful and life seems pretty even-keel. I tend to forget that the reason why I am experiencing the fruit, is because I have spent time with the Gardener.
As I have pondered this, I realise that signs of new life calls for even greater intimacy. Nothing beautiful is produced by default. It takes consistent attention and care. Little signs of new life can be vulnerable, especially when the cold season is not quite over yet. We have to protect it.
The Gardener is tender, loving and incredibly wise. If we only know how much he loves us, we will steal away, every available moment and open up our hearts so that he can do his best work.
Today, can I encourage you to take a little look at the signs of life in the garden of your heart. Can you discern a new day of destiny? Where is God leading you in this Life-Season? He has so many beautiful plans for your life. Don’t discount the little buds of peace and freedom that is showing on the branches of your soul. Notice them, protect them.
A greater harvest is yet to come.
Today, I see the Gardener smiling. He is so pleased with his work: “Spectacular One! You take my breath away. I delight in the fruit that is growing from your heart. You may not recognise it yet, but I see what you are becoming. Ever changing. Blooming from one degree of glory into the next. Extravagant beauty emerges from the soil of your heart, as I implant my Word in you. For you are my glorious work of Life. My beautiful Beloved.” ❤
