Live a cheerful life, without complaining or division among yourselves. For then you will be seen as innocent, faultless, and pure children of God, even though you live in the midst of a brutal and perverse culture. For you will appear among them as shining lights in the universe, offering them the words of eternal life.”
Philippians 2:14-15 TPT

When you’re up to your eyeballs in laundry and your floors are covered in the dog’s muddy footprints; when nobody seems to be picking up after themselves or bothers to put their dishes in the dishwasher; when you’re trying to help with maths homework while preparing supper, which nobody cares to eat once it’s on the table; it’s easy to lose sight of your significance.

Yesterday was a little crazy. Trying to fit in all the demands and activities of the day and keep hold of my sanity seemed too much to ask. We returned home from swimming lessons at around 8.15pm last night. There were still a number of tasks on my to-do list before I would see my beloved, comfortable bed. As we pulled into the driveway, my daughter noticed a bright star in the sky. She said: “Isn’t it amazing that, that little star is a gigantic ball of fire that is probably even bigger than the sun?”

I hear you Father, I thought as I opened the door to get out of the car. You see, the Father noticed. He saw that I was having a hard time yesterday. He heard the thoughts of my heart, questioning my significance. He knows I often get overwhelmed when I have a lot to do and I can’t find the time to be quiet and listen to his voice. So he chooses to speak through my children. What was it that made Zoë’s general knowledge of stars, such a powerful moment of being comforted by the Father?

In January, I attended a spiritual health weekend. Here is an excerpt from a prophetic word that I was given during my time there:

“If you could see this star closely you would be amazed at its greatness and its design. It looks small, but it is huge. It has been designed for a purpose and it fulfils it by its beauty and grace. You too have been designed to sparkle and glow. I made you with beauty and grace. I made you incredible for that is what you are! I designed you to bring light to the world around you. Don’t ever feel you are not effective, for when your gaze is on me, you glow in the dark and your light shines on all around you. You are beautiful; you are glorious – never forget who you are. Look at the stars in the sky and remember who you are!”

The Father was reminding me, through my daughter, to lift my head. To remember who I am. I am not significant because of what I do, or how I perform. I am significant, because he says so. I am significant by his design. I am significant enough to be reminded of it, by the Creator of the Stars, himself! I am significant to be noticed by him, to be loved and comforted by him.

This significance is a product of the Words he speaks over me. The Words that he has implanted in my heart, so that I can hold them out to others who are sitting in darkness. Those that need to know their own significance.

Today’s passage is preceded by this incredible promise:
“God will continually revitalize you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases him.”
Philippians 2:13 TPT

Why don’t we take a moment today, to quiet ourselves from the demands of life? Take the time to hear the Creator speak Words of Life. Words that will revitalise us. That will stir the passion in our hearts to run after God with all our strength. May the weighty glory of his Word settle in us and give us indescribable peace and unspeakable joy. May it shine out of us, like stars in the night sky.

You are significant!

Today, I hear the Father say: “Shining Star! How beautiful and precious you are. I never lose sight of you. I see you shining, even when you feel like you have lost your glow. The Words that I have spoken to you and implanted in you, they are Spirit and Life. Let my Words dwell in you richly. Let it create in you, the very thing for which I have sent it. Allow me to flood your heart with Love and flood your eyes with Light. My Light shining through you, will obliterate the deepest darkness. Keep shining!” ❤
