“I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity…”
Jeremiah 29:14 NIV

Have you ever been lost? Really lost. Convinced that you would never be able to find your way back, if not for some miraculous intervention?

I’m not great at directions, that is why I am eternally grateful for the invention of satellite navigation. But I have also been lost in a way that no technology could possibly help.

It was at a time when I needed freedom from the intense torment I felt. Unable to fix myself, I was at the edge of giving up. Tired of trying so hard to be good enough. A good enough wife, a good enough mum, a good enough carreer-girl, a good enough Christian.

“I’m done,” I said to my husband one morning, before the kids woke up and the crazy-busy day commenced. “I’m trying so hard, but I don’t see any change! I just don’t feel that God sees me, or that he loves me.” In that moment I truly felt like a lost sheep. I was hurting and tired. And the more I tried to work on myself, the more I became tangled up in my brokenness.

My brokenness had become my identity. The enemy confirming with every slip and fall: “This is who you are. Don’t think you could ever be free from this struggle.” Thankfully, God had set an appointed time for me. In a movie theater, watching Disney’s Tangled with my (then) 3 year old son.

I found him! After years of seeking solutions and not finding answers, I found The Answer: my Father. The key to my freedom was found in the tear rolling down his cheek as he longed to be reunited with his lost daughter.

The answer to true freedom is in his embrace! Knowing him is discovering who you are. Feeling his love for me, his compassion and incredible mercy and empathy for the struggle I had been living through, since the age of seven, gave me the truth I needed. The Truth that sets me free. He understands. He cares. And he is the only one who can restore my true identity.

Jeremiah 29:11-14 gives us a little peek into the very heart of the Father. Even before his people are taken into captivity, he promises to restore them. He promises to bring them back to their land.

Being in captivity can make you forget who you truly are. It may convince you that you are stuck, alone and a lost cause. But, you belong to a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. The Father’s heart is to restore you and to bring you back to the land that is your rightful inheritance as a saint in Christ.

Your captor may have you convinced that you are stuck. That you are destined for a life in the tower. But its time to silence the voice of the enemy and step out of the stronghold.

It’s time to follow the lanterns that your Father has sent, not only to celebrate you, but to show you the way home! “Here I am, I will be found by you…” His Word will light your path. Stories of the freedom he has given to his children will guide you to his arms. They are all lanterns showing you where to look. He is not hiding!

If you’re feeling a little bit lost today, please don’t give up. The Father is waiting with open arms. Once you realise who you are, a child of the King, no enemy or stronghold will be able to hold you back from all that you Father has planned for you.

Keep seeking, you will find him:

“And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God. For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that he rewards the faith of those who passionately seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 TPT

Finding the Father was the greatest day of my entire life. It changed everything! Now, I can also say that I am found. I am not a lost daughter anymore. I am a child of God. I now have access to his throne room whenever I need it. Whether I need help, wisdom, guidance or just a cuddle. He always has time for me.

Hearing him tell me who I am, gives me the faith to become who he sees.

Perfect. Loved. Free.

Father, I pray for every person reading this. I pray that they will experience your powerful love. Let it shake off every lie from their captor. I pray that they will find you, that they will discover their true identity. That they will stand up in the truth of who you say they are, and silence the voice of the enemy. Give them the courage to step out of the stronghold.

In Jesus Name!

It’s time to come home.

Today I hear the Father calling: “Beloved, you are closer than you realise. I am not hiding, but I am right here, with my arms wide open. Ready to receive you. Let me love you. Let my words of Truth wash away the lies from your captor. For you are not shackled, but free. Come out of your tower and enjoy your freedom. Come and rule and reign with me. I’m waiting.” (Click on the heart!)
